Among the letters found in the envelopes were an 1845 letter from John Barbee Minor to John Staige Davis regarding shopping in Richmond for books and a shawl; an 1853 letter from Lewis Crenshaw to John Rodes Woods regarding swine breeding in Albemarle County; an 1843 letter from Peregrine S. Buckingham to William Cabell Rives requesting copies of Cabell's published speeches; an 1853 letter to Woods from G.S. Harper regarding horse training; an 1852 letter from Samuel G. Henkel to Absalom Coiner regarding a shipment of catechisms, and a petition to the President, 1913, for a safe conduct pass for John Armstrong Chaloner.
